One Gal’s Guide to Craft Breweries in and around Austin, Texas
In October 2017, a craft beer barfly rolled up in Austin, Texas all the way from London, England on a mission to Try All The Beer.
After a year of intensive exploration of every beery nook and cranny this amazing city has to offer, I’ve finally begun to gather my thoughts into what I hope will be a remotely useable form to pass on to future intrepid beer travellers. You’ll find the craft breweries of ATX divided by region, as well as sections for different areas of the Hill Country, nearby cities and other beer adventures I’ve had along the way.
This is very much a work in progress – many brewery sections remain incomplete, and I’ve not yet begun entries on Austin’s fantastic array of craft beer bars, all of which will, eventually, appear here. Dates at the top refer to the time period of visits the posts refer to, some spanning a full year’s worth of boozing, and I hope to keep posts as up-to-date as my busy drinking schedule allows.
All views and experiences are my own, so please don’t take offence if you disagree with anything, these are nothing more than opinions reflecting the times I’ve had. I’m not a brewer, beer sommelier, or even an especially accomplished writer. I am, however, a highly experienced beer drinker, visitor of taprooms and bars around the world, and general culture nerd. While this doesn’t qualify me for anything, it does mean I’m not short of things to say. So here they are.
An adoptive Austinite, the Craft Beer Amethyst is a native Londoner, where she’s a member of Boozers.Beer Craft Beer Collective, event organiser and Craft Beer Crawl tour leader. She’s also an active CAMRA member, helping run PR for two London Drinker festivals and volunteering at many other events.
